Beautiful Places in Europe to Add to your Bucket List

Finding beautiful places in Europe is an easy task as there are so many to come by. Europe is one of my best-travelled destinations so far. I’ve visited 18 of the countries within the Schengen area so far and I’ve spent 6 months exploring these in my self-built campervan. So I am definitely qualified in helping you to add to your Europe bucket list.

For those who live in the UK and Europe, Europe is one of the continents that are far less desirable to travel and explore. Our dreams often focus around Asia, the Australias and South America. Despite being a diverse and beautiful place to travel and explore, Europe is often looked over.

Who am I?

Founder and creator of The Adventure Diary, I have extensively travelled Europe over the last 3 years. Currently, I travel in my sprinter van Bilbo, which I converted the inside of myself. The reason I travel intermittently is to maintain family and friendship links at home, enabling me to balance both my loves.

Having started as a part-time travel blogger I am now in the position where my blog is my career. Travelling, adventuring and exploring new places in the world is my main passion. For me sharing my passion of travel with others and having the platform to do that through my blog is very important.

It is also important for me to discuss current issues within the world; which is a theme I try to address within my posts and public speeches.

Lofoten Islands:

Idyllic mountains surrounded by white sand and tropical looking seas. You’d be surprised to know that I am describing Lofoten which is situated in the arctic circle in Norway. In the summer you can spend your evenings watching the ‘midnight sun’, where the sun never sets. Whilst in the winter you can experience the northern lights in all there glory.

It’s easy to see why Lofoten makes it onto my beautiful places in Europe list!

Chamonix

Located at the base of Mont Blanc, Chamonix is a small town with incredible views, character and adventures just waiting to be explored. The extensive mountain range gives you so many options from skiing, paragliding or hiking, the adventure options are endless in this beautiful place in Europe.

With 3 glaciers on the Northern side of the of Mont Blanc massif, you have plenty of places to explore. You will need to visit the glaciers soon as they are melting at a quick pace, see for yourself here. So make sure you add them to your bucket list and quickly!

Lauterbrunnen

This beautiful ancient Swiss village is packed with character and charm. With 72 waterfalls situated along the sheer cliffs of the valley, it’s easy to understand why it’s called Lauter Brunnen, which translates to many waterfalls. My favourite and one the of the most famous being Staubbach Falls. The view from behind here gives you a great photo opportunity to get the flowing water in some beautiful shots.

The walk through the valley doesn’t disappoint either. The snow-peaked mountains, luscious green fields, cows with bells on and random cheese vending machines you come across, what more could you want?

Lake Bled

Lake Bled is known as the symbol of Slovenia’s beauty. It’s clear to see why. A beautiful emerald lake, with a quirky island in the middle featuring the Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Maria. I can’t forget the incredible mountains of the Julian Alps which surround Lake Bled.

It’s well known for being a romantic getaway, but it is also an adventurers dream. With the Julian Alps only a stone’s throw away, the lake itself to explore and the Vintgar Gorge close by. You’ll be left with many adventures to go on.

Trolltunga

Another spot in my top 5 beautiful places in Europe and another location in Norway. Now if you have been to Norway it is easy to understand why. If not here’s why you need to add Trolltunga to your Europe bucket list.

This is one of the most famous and spectacular rock formations you can find in Norway. It is a gruelling hike which takes approximately 8-10 hours, you can find my comprehensive guide to hiking to the Trolltunga. What makes the Trolltunga so beautiful however is the Ringedalsvatnet lake 700m below, the snow caps you hike over and the never-ending mountain peaks.

    1. No, I personally didn’t use a tour guide. I just explored freely, with no expectations and just saw where I ended up. I’m sure there are lots you can use within that area though!
